Volvo Car Canada Adds XC60 Black Edition to 2024 Lineup: A Closer Look
September 15 2023,
In a fresh update to its 2024 offerings, Volvo Car Canada has revealed a new variant for one of its flagship SUVs, the XC60. Named the XC60 Black Edition, this new entry will sit at the top of the luxury SUV's Ultimate trim level, and is set to launch in early 2024.
Exterior Details
Distinguished by its Onyx Black exterior, the Black Edition does not just stop at the paint job. Volvo has gone all-in on the black detailing, featuring a glossy black iron mark logo, Volvo's spread word mark, and distinct 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels. This results in an XC60 with an aesthetic that balances sporty allure with understated elegance.
Interior Elegance Meets Scandinavian Design
On the inside, the Black Edition embraces Scandinavian-inspired styling with a charcoal interior and a black headliner. Customers have the option to choose from two types of premium seat upholstery: Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or a mix of Nappa Leather, Leatherette, and Textile Sport Seats. Regardless of the choice, the interior exudes a dynamic, cockpit-like feel. The ambience is further enriched with metal mesh aluminum decor, a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display that comes with Google built-in, and a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors.
Performance and Sustainability
In line with Volvo's commitment to sustainability, two hybrid powertrain options will be offered for the Black Edition. The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 employs a plug-in hybrid powertrain, boasting a 312 hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine combined with a 143 hp electric motor. An 18.8 kWh high-voltage battery provides up to 58 km of fully electric range.
Alternatively, there’s the XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition, which utilizes mild hybrid technology. This version combines a traditional internal combustion engine with an electric integrated starter generator, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy without the need for plugging in.
Pricing and Availability
Prospective buyers can expect a starting MSRP of $68,950 for the XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition and $83,950 for the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition, excluding destination charges.
In summary, the XC60 Black Edition adds another dimension to Volvo Car Canada’s already impressive portfolio, offering buyers a luxurious, yet sustainable, option in the premium SUV segment.
